prosperity for all
HOW IS DESIGN SERVING GLOBAL HUMANITARIAN GOALS?
Change The World by Design was a 150,000-square-foot immersive experience that envisioned a world transformed by unparalleled design, innovation and technology solutions. Produced by Design Exchange, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), this groundbreaking inaugural festival ignited conversations through an array of curated exhibits, compelling talks, and inspiring installations. Inviting some 100,000 visitors to Toronto’s East Harbour (formerly Unilever soap factory), it challenged visitors and participants to consider how we can make the world a better place.
Bruce Mau and Massive Change Network joined the dreamers and disruptors from around the world uniting a 10-day design festival unlike any other. The main exhibit, “Prosperity for All,” had been curated by Mau and juxtaposes Magnum photographer Paolo Pellegrin’s unflinching documentation of global conflicts with design projects that seek to advance the human condition. From smog vacuums in China to community revitalization on Fogo Island, “Prosperity for All” was a celebration of the people and projects that are making a difference in the world today.
